  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How do I find what I need to hire? keyboard_arrow_right

Look for the search bar at the top of the home page.

Type in your county, city/town, or postcode - any items that have been uploaded for rental in your area will show up. You can then scroll through, see if what you need is available locally, and then message the renter directly to check on availability, arrange a swap date, and you are sorted.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How do I pay for the item I wish to hire? keyboard_arrow_right

On completion of a hire, we encourage both parties to review each other. Once a review is registered, you may click to claim your cash!

Each Friday after a hire is returned with code swaps, we will pay your rental income less the 5% transaction fee.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How does the simple safe deposit system work and why do I need to swap codes? keyboard_arrow_right

We use Sage /Opayo for secure transactions on our site. To protect both parties from fraud, we use a code exchange verification system. Each party of the hire/lease is provided with 2 parts of a unique code which when combined creates a verification code that we use to ensure that an item has been properly collected and safely returned.

When you meet to collect, log into your account. Your half of the code is shown under “Your code” in the blue box. Once you have seen the item and agreed the hire is good to proceed you swap codes/ add each other’s codes in the blue box. It is advisable to also take a photo of the item as a record of its condition on collection.

On return of the item, you repeat the process in the purple box. Again, taking a photo as evidence of its condition is advisable in case of a dispute. When both parties have verified each other’s code, the hire ceases and the final charge of the hire is calculated.

This verification code is essential to unlocking funds, whether this is the borrower’s deposit or the lender’s earnings from the hire. Only when the hire is officially complete, can you proceed to claim your funds. It is a quick process and protects both of you from fraud.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Why do I have to pay a transaction fee? keyboard_arrow_right

We have a secure payment system and need to administer the platform thus we apply a transaction fee of 5% on each hire and each rental. It will be deducted from your deposit if you are hiring or your earnings if renting.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How do I swap codes? keyboard_arrow_right

To protect both parties from fraud, we use a code exchange verification system.

Each party of the hire/lease is provided with 2 parts of a unique code which when combined creates a verification code that we use to ensure that an item has been properly collected and returned safe and sound.

On collection, go to Yrhired.com and log into your account. Your half of the code is shown under “Your code” in the blue box. Once you have agreed the hire is good to proceed you give this code to other party. They will do the same and each enters the other person’s code in the “Their code” slot in the blue box. It is advisable to also take a photo of the item as a record of its condition on collection. This photo can’t be changed without the other parties’ code. When both parties have entered their code and verified it the hire has begun.

On return of the item, you repeat the process in the purple box. Again, taking a photo as evidence of its condition in case of dispute is advisable. When both parties have verified each other’s code, the hire ceases and the final charge of the hire is calculated.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: What happens if I try to return my item and the renter delays contacting me? keyboard_arrow_right

    Example:

Hire a jet wash, book in the hire for 2 days, contact renter to return on afternoon of the second day and renter ignores me for two days and says “sorry I was busy”. Unfortunately, You’re hired will charge you for the number of days the item was out, in this case, four days, but we would recommend a negative rating is left on the renter’s page – as a “Delayed return”.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Renting out my stuff, what are my responsibilities? keyboard_arrow_right

It is the renter’s responsibility to be available for a collection and return once a hirer has booked something from your profile as it showed it was available and therefore you have indicated availability yourself on these days. Making yourself unavailable on these days to your hirer will lead to negative reviews and lower page ranking.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Why do I need to read your Disclaimer notice? keyboard_arrow_right

Yrhired.com is a platform providing a service to local communities whereby individuals or small businesses can either rent kit for an agreed period of time or individuals or small businesses can hire the kit they require for a short period of time. The platform is designed to support the low waste, circular economy. It is designed to save money and make money.

The length of the lease is booked on the website when an item is shown as available. However, the platform takes no responsibility or liability for the state of the kit hired out and returned. This is an arrangement directly between the renter and the hirer. The deposit is pre-paid via the website. Once a collection is agreed they swap codes, and the rental days run per 24 hours to an agreed swap back date. Swapping of codes confirms that an exchange has taken place.

Deposit less rental fee, or income, are paid to each party on Friday immediately following return code swap. A transaction fee of 5% is applied across all transactions. Alternatively, customers can retain their deposits/earnings in their account to use next time.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Where can I find Terms & Conditions? keyboard_arrow_right

At the bottom of our Home page or here /p>

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Do you have a refund policy? keyboard_arrow_right

Yes, if you go to view the item and do not exchange codes if the item looks different from the photos or is in poor condition, or missing parts we will see no exchange has taken place you will be able to claim a full refund of your deposit. However, if you have exchanged codes and agreed to take the item there will not be a refund of any sort after that point. We recommend you agree to return your item as soon as possible to the hirer. And leave an honest review on their page.

Negative reviews left on people’s profiles leave them on the lowest search rankings. And we hope this discourages any misleading hirers.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: What happens if my kit is not returned? keyboard_arrow_right

We hope that all our customers will be thoughtful, sensible people! However, in this scenario, the hirer will not have their deposit returned which can only happen when codes are swapped. This is also why we recommend that item deposits are set a value to cover replacement if your item goes "missing". That way, you remain covered at all times.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Where can I meet to pick up the kit I am renting keyboard_arrow_right

We leave this arrangement to you and suggest either collecting from their home, business, or suitable public space. Wherever is convenient to both parties and where you will have connectivity to swap codes.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How do I return the kit I have hired? keyboard_arrow_right

The renter is aware of how many days of hire was required when you booked via their page. You need to contact the renter again to agree on the time and place for the item to be returned. Exchange codes and the hire is complete.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How wide is the area I can search for items to be hired? keyboard_arrow_right

This really depends on your personal preferences. If you cannot find what you need in your immediate vicinity, you may stretch your search more widely. It will be your choice as you will need to travel to meet the renter and collect/return the item. Please bear in mind the size or weight of the item if you are using public transport.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How do I work out a sensible deposit? keyboard_arrow_right

List your items with a sensible deposit amount (to reflect the value should it need replacing) and your daily rental rate, one day = 24 hours.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Can I extend the hire period? keyboard_arrow_right

Yes, as a large deposit has been taken you will be charged for the number of days you have the item until you re-exchange. BUT, please communicate with the renter as they may have another booking so cannot extend on this occasion. You can always re-book when available again.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: Can you give me an example, please? I need to hire a floor sander for two days. keyboard_arrow_right

Search and see if a sander is available in your area. If it is, book it and pay your deposit online. Pick it up on, say, Saturday morning to return it on Sunday afternoon. After meeting the renter and swapping codes you have hired this item. This is paid back on the first Friday after return of the item, less your hire days, and a transaction fee of 5%.

  • panorama_fish_eye Q: How do I contact Yrhired.com? keyboard_arrow_right
